The assay allows for the simultaneous quantitative determination of vitamin A (retinol) and vitamin E (α-tocopherol) in human serum or plasma samples by HPLC. Analytes are released from their transport proteins or lipoproteins through precipitation. They are then chromatographically separated in a single isocratic HPLC run and quantified using a UV detector.
